Gold, it has been a source
of money and power since the beginning of time. It has
changed the lives of millions of people and it will
change more in the future. With it's price on the rise
more and more people are starting to search for gold
on their own and you can find your fair share. You can
find enough to get rich but you have to know what you
are doing. You are going to need some tools to make
the job easier and you are going to have to do some
research.
Educate yourself on these tools and
how and where gold is found in nature and you will soon
be finding that funny yellow metal that started gold
fever in the 1800's. Prospecting for gold can become
very addictive once you start finding nuggets, gold
flakes and the all mighty pay streak.
If you are new to prospecting
then you might be wondering just where to begin. I would
start out by familiarizing yourself with all of the
necessary gold prospecting equipment. You can start
as big as you want or as little as you want.
Most people start with gold
pans. These tools are where it all started and the great
thing about them is the fact that anyone can use one.
It just takes a little practice. They are affordable
and lightweight making them a great choice for anyone
that wants to start prospecting.
The next step or choice in tools
would be a gold panning kit. These kits include more
than just a pan. You get some other great tools that
most prospectors just can't live without.
If you want to save some time,
you are really going to need a gold classifier. These
simply allow you to sift out larger objects from the
fine pay dirt. They can save a ton of time and they
are inexpensive. A must have for any prospector.
You can pan all day and night
but you are not going to find any gold if you don't
know where to look. The next step would be to do some
research and the best place to do that would be with
some books. There are books and maps that will show
you everything that you could ever want to know about
prospecting. You can learn how to pan, how to operate
a sluice box, how and where to look for gold, where
old claims were located and much much more. You can
even build your own prospecting equipment.
Once you start finding gold,
you can bet that gold fever will set in. You will want
to upgrade your supplies and tools and the next best
tool to try would a sluice box. These great gold snatching
tools come in various sizes, from ones that will fit
in your back pack to large ones that can move a lot
of material really fast.
You are also going to need some
hand tools like rock picks, chisels and hammers. There
are even quite a few specialty tools that make prospecting
so much easier.
There are a few things to remember
at all times. It can be very easy to forget things and
lose your head once you start finding gold. First and
foremost. SAFETY. Safety first. You are not going to
find any gold laying in a hospital bed so always remember
to think and prospect safely. Second, have fun. While
the heart of prospecting revolves around finding gold,
you should also be having fun. When you stop having
fun, it becomes a job and jobs are not fun.
Like I mentioned before. You
can dig, run your sluice and pan all day and night but
you are not going to find anything if you are in the
wrong place. RESEARCH PAYS. Learn from other people's
mistakes. Learn from the old timers that have been successful.
The best way to do that is with old prospecting books.
Stay safe and have fun!
